Hypodermic needle

The Hypodermic needle theory is a way of thinking about the mass media and how it influences the audience, it was created in the 1930's when people research the effect of propaganda during the world war. The theory is a communication theory which suggests that  the media "injects" messages to us and that we all react to them in the same way, however this is not the same as today. It started in the war when a communication theorist wrote Propaganda Technique. The hypodermic needle theory still influences us, as the mass media has a powerful effect. However the theory is out dated as it was created during the time of the war, also not every person has the same reaction to certain things.

Studies were conduted in the 1930's about the effects movies can have on children this also added to the idea that the mass media has a powerful effect on audiences, there was not a lot of science to these experiments are it is not a proven fact. They also said that movies also effects a child behaviour, to me it seem crazy that sone people even now still think this way.
