mag

All magazines use different techniques to make there product appeal to a certain target audience. They do this by changing things like the colours, layout, images and text. All of these things contribute to making the magazine look completely different to its competitors.

I looked at ELLE magazine and how what it does to make it appeal to women. Firstly I looked at the colours used, which is pink and white which are feminine colours, which is why this then makes this apealing to women. These colours are used on the text which is what I will be looking at next the subheadings are all things that appeal to women for example makeup tips and fashion fixes, where as if this were a magazine specified at men this would normally be something about cars or football type things. Also the font used is different in different parts some parts are sharp and the others are more flicky I think that the sharp font I used to make certain things stand out more for example the title of the magazine. This makes this appeal more to women than men.
on this magazine there is only one large image of Jennifer Hawkins, they use her on the cover as she is a beautiful female that appeals to other women she is also where floral which also appeals to other women. Inside the magazine it is filled with images of models and runways and fashion, these are all things that appeal to women. Also the main feature is an article about Jennifer Hawkins so it makes sense to put her on the cover.

From looking at this type of magazine I would assume that the age is for young women when I went to go check this I was correct, they target there magazine to women aged 18-34. You can tell this by the the types of articles used throughout the magazine for example, fashion, make up, celebrities ect. A lot of women at this age always look up to celebrities whether as a role model or inspiration or wether they just like them, ELLE magazine knows this, they use it to there advantage which is why they have a beautiful intelligent women on the cover like Jennifer Hawkins.
